Richard Lloyd

So like I said, we're pretty excited about playing with former Television guitarist Richard Lloyd. For those who don't know, Television is widely considered to be the rock/punk band that convinced the late Hilly Kristal to give them a chance as the house band at his new country, bluegrass and blues bar in Manhattan on March 31, 1974. Kristal soon realized that he had some hot shit on his hands and the legendary CBGB's punk scene was born. Richard and the boys rubbed shoulders with scenesters like The Ramones, Patti Smith, Blondie, and Talking Heads. They also released a pretty damn fine album in 1977 called Marquee Moon. Perhaps you've heard of such a thing. If not, here is the title track from the album. You can listen to it and stare at the album artwork:

The album is now considered a cult classic. They followed that up with 1978's Adventure, which is often overlooked but a great album as well.

As for Richard solo, he has put out a number of releases since Television, most recent of which is 2007's The Radiant Monkey. The show tomorrow at Smith's Olde Bar is part of his tour in support of that album, but he supposedly has finished a tribute to Jimmy Hendrix (using the psuedonym Jamie Neverts) which is due out on Parasol Records sometime in the fall. He is an avid producer and session guitarist as well, perhaps most notably working with Matthew Sweet back in the day. Check out some of his writings too if you like. Anyhow, we're all real honored to be sharing a stage with him and we hope you can make it to the show. Here's the info again:
